Paula Nightingale :

Paula Nightingale studied at the Beckenham School of Art followed by the Royal College of Art (1st Class Hons) where Mary Fedden was one of her tutors. From there she won a scholarship to the Akademie der Bildenden Kunst in Munich, where she explored the techniques of etching under Ernst Geitlinger.

Her work swings between large 6 foot canvases and small oil sketches.

Whatever the scale of the piece however, she has always been inspired by changing movement and light on the land or waterscape. Particularly the way it transforms objects and figures into points, lights and marks.

Two great sources of inspiration for her have been the sea shore and her daughter, Rosie. Both have, not surprisingly, been recurring subject matters for her.
'No matter what other work I am involved with, I always paint Rosie when I get the opportunity'.

Paula also loves to capture the atmosphere and spirit of a place when painting on location.

Her outstanding ability to do just that is apparent in the works in 'The Artist in our Midst' exhibition.

Paula lives and works in Suffolk.
